The annual FIFA Congress with delegations from 208 countries took place in Johannesburg just before the opening of the FIFA World Cup 2010. It began with a grand opening ceremony and a lavish banquet for the approx. 2'000 attendees. Guests were treated to performances by South African artists and everything was decorated in a vibrant, atmospheric South African style. All in all, 1'500 delegates took part in the congress at the Sandton Convention Center. In the Bidders' Exhibition that followed, nine countries or groups of countries presented themselves to the 208 delegations as possible future hosts of the World Cup. The congress also included a dinner featuring a buffet and a South African lounge.Rufener events was responsible for the planning, organization and logistics of all events and public appearances by the FIFA Congress in the run-up to the World Cup. The creative department of Rufener events was also responsible for all the congress visuals, which were employed on all on-site branding and print media.

Staff event20th Anniversary Celebration

The ZVV Zurich Public Transport Association celebrated its 20-year jubilee and invited all the staff of the eight main and 42 further transport companies to celebrate the occasion at the Güterbahnhof venue in Zurich, a former freight yard.Since many of the 6000 participants work in shifts, care was taken to ensure that all would have the opportunity to take part in this special event. The ZVV jubilee party was thus staged over three consecutive days, with a different musical genre featured each evening. With rock, Swiss folk music and pop on offer, pretty much every musical taste was catered for with a selection of impressive acts from Switzerland, including Baschi, Francine Jordi and Stefanie Heinzmann with Lunik. The heart of each evening was the ZVV Stories feature, charmingly presented by Mario Torriani and supported by Reeto von Gunten, who told tales from everyday life at the ZVV. The winning entries of the ZVV internal short story competition, which invited employees to submit their most interesting, outrageous or hilarious ZVV experience in text, pictures or video, were also presented and received with great enthusiasm.

Exhibition Area at the Swiss Pavilion

The canton and city of Berne, the city and the economic region of Thun and the Jungfrau Railways were showcased in the Swiss Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo from 22 May to 20 June 2010. The region's tourist attractions were promoted to the Chinese public under the umbrella brand Bern-Jungfrau.The Bern-Jungfrau stand in the public zone of the Swiss Pavilion was interactively designed to give visitors a taste of what a holiday in the region could offer. The digital photo booths gave visitors the opportunity to have pictures of themselves taken with backdrops of typical postcard motifs like swimming in the River Aare or paragliding over the Jungfraujoch. The pictures were printed out at the stand in the form of postcards and presented to visitors to take home. All pictures were also uploaded onto an online photo album. Rufener events was in charge of the planning and realisation of the photo booths and provided the on-site staff. The Swiss Pavilion was one of the most popular at the World Expo, and the Bern-Thun-Jungfrau exhibition area was also very well received. Public enthusiasm for the take-home picture postcards was so great that many people were willing to queue up for long waits in front of the three photo booths.

IWC welcomed 200 guests to Zurich's Kaufleuten complex for a presentation on its new book in April.
